**Overview**
Shimmick is actively seeking a highly motivated Safety Health & Environment Intern II for employment in our Los Angeles, CA location. This position is anticipated to begin May/June 2025 and continue through August/September 2025.

Shimmick is a national Contractor that has an excellent reputation within the industry and is seeking a qualified individual to join our Southwest Division. Shimmick takes on challenging projects and performs high-quality work ranging from expanding/constructing water and wastewater treatment plants to construction of the new Gerald Desmond Bridge.

Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.
+ Intern II-completion of two years of qualified study
+ Intern III-completion of three years qualified study
**Responsibilities**
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Under direct supervision, assist program managers in the responsibly of moderately complex technical work in a wide range of environmental, safety and health disciplines to achieve compliance with ES&H standards along with federal and state regulatory requirements.
**Qualifications**
Minimum Requirements:
+ Must be currently pursuing a degree in a 4 year college or university and seeking a Bachelor's degree majoring inOccupational Health and Safety, Safety, Environment, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry or a related applied science field with the intent to continue enrollment after an internship
+ Must have completed 2 years of study
Preferred Qualifications:
+ OSHA 30 certification or higher
+ HAZWOPER certifcation
+ Strong leadership skills
+ Excellent oral and written communication
+ Ability to prioritize work and meet project deadlines
+ Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and MS Excel with ability to understand Excel worksheets
Additional Information:
+ Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.

The salary for this position is $26.00 per hour.
