Job Description

Do you have experience with or enjoy working with children and wish to be a part of our growing team?  The Children's Waiting Room (CWR) will be providing childcare services for the parents of children (ages 6 weeks to 12 years old) whose parent/sibling(s) have medical appointments at Madigan Army Medical Center. Operating hours for CWR are Monday through Friday from 07:30am -4pm.  Hourly rate commensurate with experience ($18-21/hourly)

Essential Duties:
1.         Program and Services Management
a.   Provide a variety of activities for toddlers to 12-year-olds
b.   Models effective behavior for parents and volunteers
c.   Interacts with children; provides a nurturing environment for infants & children
d.   Advises Director and POC at Hospital of any issues or concerns in CWR.
e.   Follows all Child Abuse Reporting procedures when necessary
f.    Supervises all Volunteers
g.   Ensures that all CWR policies are followed

2.         Facility Management
a.   Opens and closes the center
b.   Maintains safe and clean child-watch area
c.   Ensures new parents fill out proper registration forms (ASYMCA registration forms)
d.   Ensures each parent fills out Daily Register Report and signs child in and out
e.   Maintains registration files and parent information
f.    Ensures all Records are kept locked in filing cabinet when not in use
g.   Reports unsafe conditions to the Director
h.   Provides parent and Director with written accident report involving any child
i.    Cleans all toys with bleach/water solution upon closing of center

4.         Equipment Management
a.   Keeps toys and equipment clean and sanitary and in good working condition
b.   Advise Director about needed supplies

5.         Other Duties as assigned 

Qualifications:  
  1. Minimum High School diploma or GED. CDA preferred.
  2. At least 18 years of age .
  3. CPR , First Aid, online training including child abuse prevention within 30 days of hire date.
  4. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  5. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  6. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

  8. Any combination of educational and work experience that would be equivalent to the stated minimum requirements would qualify for consideration of this  position.
Post Hire Requirements (Must be completed before first day on the job)
1.   CPR, First Aid and Great Academy (Online training to be determined by Director).
2.   Drug/Background Test
